Fierce fighting around Trang Bang near Saigon

U S infantry and paratroopers fought North Vietnamese forces for a second day near Trang Bang, 25 miles northwest of Saigon. Reports say 147 Communists killed and eight Americans dead with 13 wounded as U S forces reinforced with helicopters and artillery.

Two Homes Burned in Guadalupe Fire Near Phoenix

Fire destroyed two homes in Guadalupe southeast of Phoenix and damaged two others. The blaze started about midnight at Robert Dunas's house and spread to his father's home, both burning to the ground. Matthew Valenzuela's house suffered extensive damage and a fourth home had minor damage. Total losses estimated at 10000 dollars with no injuries reported. Cause under investigation.

Obituaries for Clara Sweet and Robert Davidson

Mrs Clara Sweet who moved to Tucson in 1943 from Chicago and lived in Scottsdale died yesterday at an address in Scottsdale. Robert Davidson a 78 year old Scot who worked as a carpenter and at 20th Century Fox died Sunday and survived by wife Mary two sons and six grandchildren. Memorial services for Mrs Sweet are set for 2 p m Thursday at Green Acres Mortuary with survivors listed.

Phoenix schools join after school recreation program

Five elementary schools and one high school in the Scottsdale School District participate in an after school recreation program funded by Phoenix Parks and Recreation.
