Desert climbers conquer Mount McKinley summit
Three Scottsdale men joined an Arizona Mountaineering Club expedition to scale Mt. McKinley in Alaska. The 24 day ascent faced avalanches, minus 17 degree winds, and glacier crevasses as they carried 720 pounds of supplies and endured extreme cold. Team members included Dr. Peter Herwick, Dr. Gary Weinman, and Edward Connor with local leader Bob Watts and three Alaskans.
