Britain arrests suspects in spying case linked to defecting agent

British police raid homes in London and across England, arresting several men mainly Britons tied to a Soviet spy ring linked to the expulsion of 105 Soviet officials. The defector Oleg Lyalin said the agent involved acted for love of a Russian blonde Irina Teplayokova. The Home Office noted Mrs Teplayokova sought political asylum in Britain.

Store Bomb Threat Strikes Again at Sears

A bomb scare at the Los Arcos shopping center marks the third consecutive night of threats directed at the Sears store via Cinema II theater. BEA Vanguard crash in Belgium leaves 63 dead

A BEA Vanguard turboprop carrying 63 aboard crashed and burned near Deinze six miles from Ghent. Flight 706 was en route from London to Salzburg when it went down at 11:20 A.M. with all 55 passengers and eight crew believed dead. Police and firemen aided rescue and a search for the flight recorder began hours later.
