A festive recipe for a dessert pizza using pie crust, cream cheese mix, condensed milk, lemon, vanilla, and a candied fruit glaze. Bake crust to golden, top with cheese mixture, simmer apple sauce with brown sugar and fruits, then spread and garnish with cherries and pecans for 12 to 16 servings.
The McDowell Mountains trek of the Hrewood clan turned into a desert Thanksgiving al fresco. Amid a freak storm, two hours to reach camp, a five mile retreat, and a home roasted 18 lb turkey, the group gathered near Mesquite trees for a meal under grey skies and a campfire.
Combine 14 percent teaspoons soda and 1 teaspoon salt with other dry ingredients. Stir apple mixture with the dry mix, then add remaining ingredients. Bake in a greased 9 by 13 pan at 325 to 350 degrees for about one hour until a toothpick comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Serves eight to ten.
