DES official says higher minimum wage may shrink openings for youth
Arizona DES analyst Carol LeBlanc warns the federal minimum wage hike could tighten the job market for young entrants. She estimates 30,000 to 46,000 Arizonans are affected as wages rise from 2.35 to 2.65 on Jan 1 and to 3.35 by 1981, potentially adding 20 million to the state's economy in 1978 while layoffs predictions linger.
