Combined enrollment across Scotts dale elementary and high schools climbs by 903 students since the school year began, up 63 percent from the previous year. Elementary enrollment totals 12,611 rising to 13,?20 with 711 more students. high schools add 192 for 4,318.
The Arizona Building Contractors annual convention opens in Scottsdale at the Executive House with about 100 members and wives. A two day event features a banquet tonight and business sessions tomorrow, with guests including Gov. Paul Fannin Rep John Rhodes state attorney general Robert Pickrell AGC leader William Dunn and AGC president M Clare Miller. The program covers a labor contract report a panel on the five tensions and practices and a joint Arizona Institute of Architecture AGC report.
Governors from Arizona California and Utah and Nevada lieutenant governor meet in San Francisco to discuss fallout shelter cooperation under the Department of Defense with Robert G. An estimated 1500 dollars worth of jewelry was stolen from Larson's Jewelers at 17 East Main Street in Scottsdale during a 3 am break in. A neighbor, Bob Hudack, saw a sandy haired youth smash the window with a crescent wrench and flee on foot through nearby yards and an alley. The suspect, about 18 to 20, 125 pounds, 5 feet 8 inches, wore a white jacket and khaki pants. Detective Townsend noted exact losses will take several days to determine.
