Parks conference honors two local groups
Two local organizations were honored at the close of the 19th annual Arizona Parks and Recreation Conference held Wednesday through Friday at the Executive House. The Scottsdale Junior Women's Club received an award for efforts in bringing about a children's theater. The Salt River Indian Community Council was honored for developing a modern recreation center. Interior Secretary Stewart L. Udall received the state association's top award for conservation work and for securing a $200 million federal grant to develop recreation facilities.

Two hurt in crashes on Scottsdale Road
Police report two traffic accidents on Scottsdale Road overnight injuring Katherine Dampier 13 and Nella Voorhees 54. Dampier was cited for an unsafe crossing after her bicycle struck a car driven by Dale Butler 31. Voorhees also was treated after her car hit a truck sticking out into the street.
