Safari Hosts Dimes Meeting in Scottsdale Event

The Safari Hotel in Scottsdale will host the Arizona and Maricopa County National Foundation pre campaign meeting on Friday and Saturday November 30th and December 1st. About 200 campaign directors and volunteers from 14 Arizona chapters will plan the January March of Dimes drive. Til Woman Leaves Note

A 43-year-old Scottsdale woman Theresa Lewis attempted death by her own action yesterday. She was found by husband L John Lewis in a bedroom and rushed to Baptist Hospital in serious condition. Doctors seek to determine what medication caused the illness. A friend said she had a mild heart attack about two weeks earlier and had been in pain since last Saturday after breaking her left wrist bowling.

Pink Bollworm Hearing Set on Future of Arizona Program

A public hearing in Phoenix on November 27 will decide if Arizona’s pink bollworm eradication program remains a cooperative effort with the state US Department of Agriculture and farmers or moves to individual land owners. The plan would ban stub cotton statewide and set a permanent plow up date of February 28. Since 1958 infestations have fallen from 75,000 acres to about 30,000 as the program cut about 60 percent annually.
