Safety tags phony on some lights
Underwriters Laboratories warns that counterfeit UL labels and unauthorized trademarks have been found on Christmas light strings imported into the United States. Detected on 11 light angel decor sets and on 30 and 35 light strings, the labels may be used on other types. Douglas Hood urges inspectors to warn buyers. Counterfeit labels feature a red printed front and white back with possible black border and include “Issue No. B-800” and “E48723.” Sunrise Lite Corp and GLCAL of Taiwan deny any connection. Contact UL in Melville, Illinois at 516-271-6200 for followup.
