City awards two road projects on Hayden and Shea in Scottsdale
Scottsdale voters heard bids as the city council awarded Hayden Rd and Shea Blvd street improvement contracts. Havill Engineers received 15000 for Hayden and Earl V Miller 8000 for Shea. Projects total about 570000 with city shares of 200000 and 28000 respectively. Additional actions include sewer line work, liquor license transfers, zoning map updates, refuse rate changes, and equipment purchases for the public works department.

James Bacon of Scottsdale is among four new directors named to the Community Council board. The council coordinates volunteer health welfare and recreation services in the Valley. Bacon is a union business agent and previously ran for the Scottsdale school board, finishing second. Tom Chauncey is the new council president.

Rabies Shots and Dog Licenses Offered in Maricopa County
Maricopa County dogs can receive rabies vaccinations and 1964 licenses through Dec 13 at clinics across the Valley. Scottsdale Fashion Square hosts a mobile clinic on Sun Nov 22 from 10 am to 4 pm for shots and license applications. The three year vaccination is $2 and the 1965 license is $3, with checks payable to the Veterinary Center.

Rescuers find missing couple and death toll from winter trek
Nellie Clark and George McBride were located near Williams in apparent good condition after a weekend treasure hunt. Nellie’s husband Abram Clark was found frozen to death nearby. Manuel Jasso, 21, and Lupe Herman, 29, also perished after being caught in a storm near Seven Springs. Herman led rescuers to Jasso, who died beneath a tree. Herman survived with frostbitten feet.
