A highway patrolman reports an uninjured drunk survivor emerging from a wrecked car after plunging down a hundred foot cliff. The man claims he did not fall far and says the brake was on the whole time he was airborne, while the officer calls it a miracle.
At the Arizona State Fair Scottsdale welcomed two Mexican state leaders Governor Alvaro Obregon and Lt Governor Rafael Moreno Henriques. Miss Newey Bauer and Avis Read presented gifts including a palm-embellished hat and a hand crafted neckerchief symbolizing wealth and trade. TB Christmas Seal significance tied the ceremony to health community goals in Arizona and Mexico.
Postmaster O C Wilson advised Scottsdale gardeners during planting season to arrange neighbor acceptance if away, keep plants moist in a cool location, and contact the post office for delivery instructions. He urged prepared ground and early planting with liberal watering and following sender instructions to ensure best growth.
James F. Byrne has been appointed general manager of the Paradise Valley Racquet Club by president J. R. Heron. Byrne will oversee all operations including an expansion program. A Nashville native, he came to Phoenix in 1944, earlier serving as general manager of Sanguinetti Investment in Yuma and as secretary treasurer of the Yuma Country Club. He and Mrs Byrne with three children will reside on Shoeman Lane, Scottsdale.
The Negro Chorus of the First Institutional Baptist Church of Phoenix will perform at 8:00 p.m. Sunday November 18 at the First Baptist Church of Scottsdale near Indian School Road and Brown Ave. Rev Milton Van Slyke announced the event.

The second floor facility will house two control rooms a tape room a large studio and offices with direct wires to Safari Hotel venues for five programs over the weekend.
Cpl James B Lee son of Dr and Mrs Alfred J Lee of Scotts day Arizona took part in AGLEX 57E at Camp Pendleton California from Oct 29 to Nov 4. The six day exercise involved 15000 Marines from the 1st Marine Division and featured a combined land sea and air assault with a conventional amphibious landing helicopter borne troops and Marine jets providing close aerial support.
The Post Office Department released a 138 page booklet detailing early U.S. mailing rates 3 cents for letters since 1851 franking for Washington and Martha Washington, and airmail Medal of Honor history. Superintendent of Documents provides the 45 cent price.

Tenite Stage Stop Grand Opening of the Stage Stop restaurant and drive-in at Scotsdale Road and Indian School Road features California entertainment, prize drawings, and street dancing. The Albert Sheetz chain relocates its first Arizona unit from Bimbo's last December with Judy Marsh and Johnny Dugan headlining. Local acts include the Schrouder Play Boys Westen Band and Garlands Greene directing square dances from 8 to 1, with coupons for prizes at 11.
Seventy one Arizonans were inducted into the Army in Phoenix from Oct. 3 to Oct. 30, 1956. Harry E. Thornton of 3415 East First Avenue was included in the group.
