The Department of Commerce imposes a flam mability standard for 0 6x size children's sleepwear. Current stock must be labeled Flammable (does not meet U S Department of Commerce Standard DOCFF 371). By July 29 1973 all 0 6x sleepwear must be flame resistant or be removed from shelves.
The notice urges buyers to seek flame resistant labeling on children's sleepwear as a guide to compliance with Federal flammability standards. It notes many in stores like Sears Montgomery Ward and J C Penney stock flame retardant garments, while DIY sewing requires caution as trim and zippers may burn and lack labels.
