Scottsdale License Appeal Challenges City Tax on Professionals
A Scottsdale hearing follows Judge Tom Felke’s September ruling that the city business license ordinance is invalid for licensing professionals. The case, triggered by realtor Dan Weisberger, questions whether statewide preemption exempts realtors, attorneys, and physicians from local licensing, potentially halving city tax revenue from about 22 000 to 11 000. Don Van Dyke notes roughly half the expected revenue comes from unlicensed individuals.
