Monument panel to discuss vandalism proof for Camp Hualapai

Bob Yount of 337 W 6th St will lead a Friday evening panel at the St Michael Hotel Prescott on a proposed monument at Camp Hualapai 40 miles north of Prescott. The council seeks a monument unlikely to be vandalized as part of a joint ceremony with the Prescott Westerners Corral affiliate of the National Historical Society. The Camp Hualapai post opened in 1869 with the Sante Fe Trail.

Clyde Morgan's experimental Javelin billed as the quickest on Earth is on display today and Friday at the Randall Rambler. It will race at Beeline Dragway Saturday. The car posted quarter mile times around 7.558 seconds and a top speed of 191.88 mph.

Obituary of John A Slisko DuPont retiree

John Andrew Slisko age 53 a chemical operator for DuPont Co died Wednesday at St Luke's Hospital. A native of New Brighton Pennsylvania he worked twenty years at DuPont until retirement two years ago. He lived at 7014 B Holly. He was a member of St Daniel's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife Julia P three sons John James David Michael and Thomas Timothy and two daughters Susan Lyn and Michelle Denise all of Scottsdale his mother Mrs Theresa P Slisko of Brook Park Ohio a brother and two sisters out of state. Rosary Friday at 7 30 pm in Messinger Mortuary Chapel. Mass Saturday at St Daniel's Catholic Church. Burial Green Acres after 5 pm today.

Paradise Valley councils to hear traffic light upgrade plan

Paradise Valley and Scottsdale officials meet to discuss a traffic control light on Mockingbird at Lincoln and a Scottsdale maintenance offer of 150 dollars yearly plus repair charges. Robbery Try In Liquor Store With Pretzels and Cola

A man in Chicago entered a liquor store on Wednesday and asked for pretzels and a bottle of cola to be bagged. He returned later, bought another item, and finally drew a weapon demanding money. The robbery attempt ended without reported injury.

Maricopa County approves revised zoning plan for unincorporated areas

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopts a comprehensive revised zoning ordinance for unincorporated areas north and south of Scottsdale. The ordinance, effective May 29, creates 19 zoning districts, adds three rural districts, requires off street parking for new or altered buildings, and replaces prior rules in effect since 1960 after 19 months of work and four public hearings. Harold Clay chairs the planning and zoning commission and calls the measure for the county's betterment.

Thieves Foiled in Early Morning Bakery Burglary

Police report an early morning break in at Smitty's bakery in Big Town 8302 E McDowell. thieves hid inside after closing Tuesday night taped the alarm, cut into the ceiling above the refrigerator, fled when the bakery crew arrived at 2 am leaving an acetylene tankand pry bar and nothing appeared stolen.
