President Johnson Visits Sharecropper on 20 Acre North Carolina Farm

In Nash County near Bethlehem the visit of President Johnson and daughter Lynda Bird to sharecropper William Marlow's 20 acre farm drew about 100 cars along a dirt road. Franklin D. Roosevelt Jr. and Gov. Terry Sanford joined secrecy as guards protected the 202 acre site with tobacco and cotton income split between Marlow and landlord Ervin Stone.

Relatives Sought for Unclaimed Man Herbert Galvin in Scottsdale

Justice of the Peace Harold Holcomb reports the unclaimed body of Herbert Galvin about 65 found in a Scottsdale trailer house. Burial delayed at least two weeks while relatives are sought. if none appear, he will likely be buried at Twin Buttes Cemetery by Maricopa County. Galvin died of a heart attack between midnight and 4 am Monday. He had recently lived at the Grand Hotel and came to Arizona about two years ago. a Merchant Marine card suggests service in the San Francisco area.

Slaying Suspect Nabbed After Fatal Detroit Chase

Bruce Walter Leikett, 26, sought for slaying Fredericksburg Virginia officers, was captured in Inkster after a high speed chase. A crash killed Joe Ferrell, 21, and police found two guns matching the Virginia killings in Leikett’s car. Ballistics linked to a New Jersey holdup. Ker snowsky, 20, died.
