United Press International reports Moscow ships large consignments of jet warplanes antiaircraft missiles tanks and other weapons to Syria as Cairo coordinates a diplomatic push for a peaceful Middle East settlement. Egypt and Syria place forces under a single commander while Israel rejects withdrawal demands and US and UN proposals.
Al Mesa resident Shirley Rank sustained minor injuries when her car was hit by a vehicle driven by Joe Campbell at 8:10 a.m. Monday. Campbell, cited for failure to yield while turning left, followed Rank northbound on Hayden Road. Police also investigated three other two car accidents with no injuries on Monday at McDowell and Miller, Fourth Street and Scottsdale, and Pima and Indian School.
Police search for a lone gunman who robbed Circle K at 3640 N Miller Rd shortly after noon Monday. A grey blue Volkswagen seen near the store is believed to have been used to flee west down an alley after the suspect took about $60 in cash and a carton of cigarettes.

Front news reports describe a North Vietnamese assault at Khe Sanh 12 miles from Laos with 40 commandos destroying two Huey helicopters, wounding 36 and killing three Americans. American and South Vietnamese convoys faced repeated ambushes as a border evacuation neared completion.

Diana Dr., was arrested at 4 45 a m on charges of driving while intoxicated reckless driving no license and speed not prudent after his car crashed through a construction barrier at Bist Street and Thomas Road. Police say the crash damaged the vehicle, escaped into a ditch and slid 300 feet. Bail set at 500 dollars.
