Inventors claim Autovaporator ups mileage
Navy engineers Herb Johnson and Bill Rose seek to replace the carburetor and smog equipment with a vaporator to improve mileage and meet 1975 smog standards. Tests on a 1965 Dodge Coronet showed mileage rising from 14 to 20 mpg, with potential doubling in new cars. They set up a lab in Ventura to refine a prototype and pursue financing from ARB, DOT, Caltech, and others, but report no funding yet.
