Russian Skipper Pays Alaskan Fishing Fine
In Anchorage a $5,000 penalty was paid by Nicolai G. Zernov, skipper of a Russian trawler, for fishing within U S territorial waters off Alaska. Scottsdale Old Timers Reunite Recalling Early Town Life
At the sixth Scottsdale Reunion of Old-Timers 140 longtime residents gathered at the Mowrys home to recall pre 1940 life. They remember farmers, cattle ranchers, dirt streets, Browns Mercantile Co. and Corrugated iron roofs with exchanges about blue jeans bolo ties and Scottsdale High’s 125 pupils. They recount war era growth, Canals for swimming and a parade of cavalry down Main St. and Scottsdale’s transformation from farming community to larger city.
