Photographer bungles jewelry shoot in artful misfire
Progress photographer Hal Moore was sent to photograph 188 carat smoky topaz pendant and other pieces at Alexander and Continental Jewellers shows. He mixed imagination with a model and sculptures, aiming for dramatic poses but ended up bending a Judo expert and creating a near miss of a photoshoot.

Professors critique of Western writers sparks fan anger
Dr. Wilfred A. Ferrell of ASU drew ire by saying major Western authors like Max Brand Zane Grey and Luke Short were mediocre though he later defended them as accessible readers. He praised a group including Eugene Manlove Rhodes Conrad Richter Oliver La Farge Walter Van Tilburg Clark and Willa Cather for literary merit. In other items, a Corning Glass range top debuts at the Arizona Home Beautiful Show and the Casa de Amigas Guild promotes fundraising at a fashion show for a rehabilitation center for alcoholic women with no admission charges.
