Scottsdale Chamber survey finds lifestyle climate and growth draw firms, with 74 percent saying past relocation reasons remain valid. Banks hotels and other sectors reported generally positive views on recreation environment taxes and city services, though housing and utilities drew concerns.
J Rex Dawe president of the American Bankers Association told 530 bankers at the ABA National Credit Conference in Atlanta that disclosure of banks financial standing is a necessary first step to strengthen confidence in US institutions including banks. He warned of privacy costs and possible adverse effects on small borrowers and local lending if disclosures are excessive, and called for meaningful, costly yet useful information to guide public banking and investment decisions. The ABA represents about 14 000 banks, over 95 percent of the nation's total.
