United Press International reports civil rights leader Whitney M. Young Jr. died of a heart attack while at a beach near Lagos Nigeria. Young executive director of the National Urban League was in Lagos for a meeting with the African American Association. Senator Muskie arrived in London after hearing the news and called Young a vital, active force in the work he loved.
