Chief Percy Bowden disclosed $10 000 to $15 000 vanished from a locked file cabinet in City Hall storage after a six day Tucson trip. The cabinet had 20 years of money for undercover narcotics work and its drawer was pried open. Captain Ronald Borane was named to lead the probe.
In Keene New Hampshire Nixon campaigns on crime promising strong law enforcement and swift action against rioting. He criticizes courts for leniency and cites the President's Commission on Civil Disorders while urging unity and a crackdown on racial strife.
White House sponsored negotiations continue over a 287 day copper strike with 130 unions and company officials at the table. Key issue remains union wide bargaining versus company by company contracts as Kennecott Phelps Dodge Anaconda and American Smelting debate terms. Presidents urging round the clock sessions to resolve the shortage affecting the economy and Vietnam war effort.
PFC David Moncavage 25 of Scottsdale formerly Merced California killed February 14 in Vietnam. Born in Merced and moved to Scottsdale in 1956 he attended Arizona State University. Survived by parents Sigmund and Mrs Moncavage two sisters Michele of Scottsdale and Karen Swenson of Corona California and grandmother Leora Patton of Merced. Scripture service today at Messinger Mortuary 7 30 pm. Funeral Mass tomorrow at St Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church 1030 N Hayden Burial with full military honors at S Francis Cemetery.
Senator Paul Fannin of Arizona gave cautious support to parts of the presidents Indian affairs plan. He called the proposed council on Indian opportunity an important beginning but urged clear limits on the authority of Indian school boards and noted the need for Indians to consent to any legislation affecting them. Interior Secretary Udall praised the program as bold and brutally honest about the Indians plight.
A national political party will be formed in a meeting at the Unitarian Church in Tempe 1016 S River Drive tonight at 8. The group named The World Party is founded by Thane Read of Tempe. Aims include war prevention population control civil and economic rights for all and sharing benefits from automation and development of an international language. The public is invited to attend.
Three Scottsdale residents will teach at an annual advertising forum sponsored by the Phoenix Ad Club from March 12 to April 4 at Arizona State University. A $25 registration fee applies. Instructors include M R Welch publicist Mrs Geneez W Blanpied and W B Wright with topics on research marketing public relations and buying newspaper space. Gene Blanpied chairs the forum. Subsequent programs feature agency principals managers copywriters and other advertising professionals.
A Greek Orthodox Church court in Athens ousted Metropolitan Iakovos from his post as Bishop of Attica by a 10 to 38 vote. The ruling stated he lacked the prestige for the position. Takovos had served as primate of the church in 1962.

UPI reports 542 Americans killed last week in Vietnam with most fatalities in Hue and near the DMZ as Marine divisions engage near Con Thien. Allied forces say 3,849 Communists were killed that week and U.S. total combat deaths reach 3,254 through nine weeks of 1967.
