Title insurance industry misunderstood by Colorado official
Colorado insurance commissioner J Richard Barnes says the public misperceives title insurance and quotes letters showing confusion and distrust. James W Robinson of American Title Insurance Co notes misunderstandings extend beyond title work and explains the search is not the only function. A Land Title Association survey shows a 1.1 percent pretax margin versus Fortune 500 firms at 4.3 percent. Five home warranty firms are National Association of Realtors endorsed, with names and locations listed.
