Weekend thefts hit appliances and meats in Scottsdale
Scottsdale police reported capers over the weekend stealing $300 worth of electric appliances and canned goods from Evelyn Taylor at 2538 North 66th Street. A house guest took about $850 in frozen meats and clothing from Rhonda Mason at 6720 East Lewis Street. Aztec Construction Co. lost a $25 typewriter from a trailer at 7660 East Van Buren after a window and door were damaged. Appliance City on Scottsdale Road saw three color TV sets stolen, valued at $1,500, down from the feared seven.

Mrs. Mabel Lorraine Cavanagh died Sunday. A native of Biborg South Dakota she moved to Scottsdale February 10 from Sioux Falls where she lived since 1937. Survivors include husband John J. Cavanagh two sons Joseph Carmody and John Carmody a daughter Mary Jane Leiferman a brother and three sisters six grandchildren. Services and burial in Sioux Falls Messinger Mortuary announced.

Wilkinson's car at 8300 E Roosevelt St. The blaze was reported at 1 08 a.m. A thermostat fault blamed for a house fire at C W Gunther 8213 E Crestwoo len also around 6 05 a.m. C F Cadlwell suffered 50 loss from kitchen grease fire at 6549 E Cypress about 12 45 a.m. A child with matches started a stump fire at Orange Blossom and Granite Reef Rd about 3 45 p.m. Saturday. firefighters put it out with no losses.

Scottsdale officer injured in sand buggy collision
Scottsdale police Sergeant Thom Clark was injured in a desert sand buggy collision near the Scottsdale Airport during a March of Dimes charity ride. He underwent surgery and was reported in good condition at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital. Witnesses said he was giving rides when his vehicle collided with another coming over a hill. he was the only seriously injured person.
