Goldwater Questions Romney as GOP Prospects
Washington UPI reports Barry Goldwater dismisses Michigan Governor George Romney as a potential 1968 Republican candidate. Goldwater cites Romney's 1964 lack of support and questions how many of Goldwater's 1964 voters would back Romney. Romney seeks peace with Goldwater supporters and studies Vietnam policy while avoiding early proposals. Nixon discusses Vietnam with Goldwater as he plans a May world tour.
