West German Ambassador Ehrenfried von Holleben told a news conference he was seized by left wing terrorists who wore Ku Klux Klan like hoods and chloroformed him before being placed in a wooden box for 123 hours. He said the ordeal ended with an exchange for 40 prisoners and exile to Algiers. He recounted being driven to a hideout and mistaking the car for a traffic accident after shots killed a bodyguard. One kidnapper appeared to be a woman.
