Justice Dept Seeks Injunction Against Times Over Vietnam Study

Attorney General John Mitchell says the Justice Department will ask a New York court for a temporary restraining order to stop The New York Times from publishing top secret Vietnam War study documents. The suit claims publication would cause irreparable injury to national defense and cites affidavits from Defense Dept counsel Fred Buzhardt. The Times plans to continue publishing while the government seeks an injunction.

City Approves Negotiations to Buy Ocotillo Water Co

City council grants formal approval to begin negotiations for purchasing Ocotillo Water Company at an estimated cost of 150000. Previous informal authorization was given to Public Works director Marc Stragier. The firm serves Roadrunner Country Club and 70 nearby homes.

Strife in Albuquerque as National Guard fights crowds

In Albuquerque New Mexico youths smashed storefronts overturned cars hurled rocks and flaming bottles at National Guard troops on Monday during a second night of civil strife. Fire officials counted 61 fires since Sunday and police reported 460 injuries including 13 gunfire hits though no one was struck.
