Government recaptures Dong Xoai after heavy losses
Government forces retook Dong Xoai district town 60 miles north of Saigon after a daylong battle in which American personnel suffered heavy casualties. Viet Cong attacked with 1500 fighters, overran the Special Forces camp and airstrip, hindering reinforcements as air support and strikes targeted nearby sites.
