The Dow Jones average slid to 757.43, dropping 8.14 to set a four year low. Declines outpaced advances 925 to 370 among about 1,700 stocks as volume reached 10.96 million shares amid investor caution. Officials' inflation worries and expected rate hikes cooled activity. Markets await the Fed loan and rate figures due after hours.
Mary Ann Minton division manager for the Phoenix region led Dallas based Cosmetics International Corporation to its top recruiting and sales rankings in June. Scottsdale residents Marge McFate and Sue Goff headed regional and nationwide efforts, with Vivian Teel ranking second in recruiting and her team third overall. CIC president James S. Swope visited the Valley after the division’s strong performance.
Jack C. Abert president of Camp Trails Inc and Timothy D. Hayes KTAR-TV official are named chairman and vice chairman of the Arizona District Export Council by Secretary of Commerce Frederick B. Dent. The council aims to grow Arizona exports through seminars workshops and publicity.
