Expert urges MCCCD to consider scrapping district computer
Bernie Lambert a former U S Army computer analyst told the Maricopa County Community College District board that the district should consider getting rid of the computer. He charged the system wastes nearly 1000 per working day and is larger than needed. He cited rising rental and maintenance costs from 301 918 in 1970 71 to 623 968 in 1973 74 and total data processing costs from 560 544 to 990 868 in the same period. He faulted administration for ineffective use and said other equipment could perform the duties better. He also noted ASU Univac computer issues with a 50 000 per month rental contract at risk if breakdowns persist.
