Summer program sparks gifted learning at Phoenix school
The Summer Program for Individual Exploration SPIES at Phoenix Country Day School, directed by Kathy Kolbe, lets children choose activities from astronomy to drama. With a seven to one student ratio, staff include ASU educators and Scottsdale's gifted education coordinator. Students set their own schedules, work in themed rooms like Code Room and Print Shop, and even TV in IRS, while field trips and guest talks augment hands on projects.
