Reds battle to sever Highway 1 link in Quang Tri

About 1,000 Communist troops allegedly outflanked guards and temporarily severed the road as air and sea forces bombarded positions. In Binh Dinh, a 7,500 man South Vietnamese unit recaptured Beng Son after the Communists seized much of the province as the offensive began March 30. Nearly 100 U.S. B52 bombers dropped around 2,500 tons of explosives over two days.
