Police reported several break ins between Thursday evening and Saturday morning. At Yavesel School’s Lille Lampur snack bar thieves took baseball gear, a mask, mitts, bulbs, and a model airplane engine with a value of 115 dollars. A home on Otis Hopkins 4906 M Rit St saw a theft of an air engine transmitter. Deborah Hollingsworth’s living room purse disappeared from 3338 North South Place between 7 PM and 8 AM Saturday. Kenneth Mothering’s 3232 North 66th Street apartment was broken into Friday evening with beer stolen. Signs of forced entry were found at several sites.

Cyclist Injured In Collision In Scottsdale

A 16 year old motorcyclist was injured Saturday when he collided with a turning car. James Sortor 16 7847 Monte Vista was treated and released from Scottsdale Baptist Hospital. Police cited Bissell for failure to yield the right of way. Another accident pinned Steven Smith between a car and a backing vehicle in a parking lot. Smith was treated and released from the same hospital. No citations were issued in that incident. Hayden Indian School and Robert Waltz 41 of 6640 Northland were involved. a pickup truck driver was treated and released from the hospital.

Mrs Geneva Barbour 87 Dies. Rites Planned in Detroit

Geneva Barbour 87 died Friday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born in Cambridge Ohio she moved to Detroit two years ago from Los Angeles. Her husband John T. Barbour owned the World of Art Gallery on Fifth Avenue. Survived by husband a son John A Port Washington NY a daughter Rhoda Los Angeles two brothers and a sister living out of state and four grandchildren.

Services for Mrs Nancy Jo Arndt 29 were held at 10:30 a.m. today in Green Acres Memorial Chapel. She was buried in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Arndt died Saturday in Memorial Hospital. Born in Port Angeles Washington she moved here a year ago. Survivors include husband Frederick, parents Mr and Mrs Ned Williams of Fairfax Virginia, two sons Mark W and Stephen of Scottsdale, two brothers and two sisters all living out of state. Contributions to the American Cancer Society are suggested.

Mrs Mildred V Foster 74 buried at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery after services at St Barnabas Desert Episcopal Church. She died Friday in Scottsdale Baptist Hospital. She lived at 8730 E Montecito after moving here a year ago and was born in Keokuk Town. Survived by husband Clarence L and daughter Mrs Bette Hammer of Scottsdale.

Fair Labor Violations Hit Arizona Employers

In Phoenix UPI reports the U S Labor Department says nearly 1 million dollars will be recovered from over 600 Arizona companies for wage violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act. About 7 210 workers were shortchanged with time and a half overtime underpayments and unequal pay for women. More than 438 000 dollars already recovered, with most of the total 1 184 000 expected to be collected before next July.

Broken gas line triggers car fire and multiple incidents

Firemen linked a broken gas line to a car fire causing about 75 dollars in damage to Walter Wash chuck’s vehicle on Scottsdale High. Earlier, a smoke report at E. D. Byars home prompted a response, and a waste basket fire caused 50 dollars in laundry room damage. Additional Sunday and weekend blazes included trash containers lumber brush and hay fires near Scottsdale Road and McDowell Road.

Woman sailor near conclusion of Pacific solo voyage

Sharon Adams, 39, last heard from a 31 foot ketch Sea Shari, was sighted Sunday five miles off Pt Arguello near Santa Barbara. She aims to be the first woman to sail solo across the Pacific, with landfall planned in San Diego. Edward Nels skipper Bob Gannon reported the sighting to Adams husband Al at Los Angeles County marina. Adams appeared healthy and the vessel showed no major damage despite a stormy crossing. She intends to sail south through the Santa Barbara channel toward Del Rey, expected Tuesday.
