Three rifles a shotgun and two cameras valued at 360 were taken from a truck camper at 8207 E Bonnie Rose sometime between 11 30 p m Saturday and 7 30 a m Sunday Police said Orlich discovered the right door of the camper open.
Paradise Valley Town Council approved the plat plans for Paradise View Estates, a 33 unit subdivision across from Paradise Valley Country Club on Tatum Boulevard. The development is being built by the Tatum Boulevard Corp.
The Scottsdale YMCA launches Daze O Fun summer day camp with activities from hockey and swimming to arts and drama. Sessions run Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through July 23 at 3019 N Civic Center Plaza with fees 35 for members 40 for non members and 5 off for each additional child. A 1965 Chevrolet owned by Mrs. K. Bailey of 8601 E. Coronado sustained $300 damage Saturday in a fire at 5809 N. Granite Reef Road. Firemen reported damage to the engine compartment and front seat area. the cause is listed as unknown and the blaze occurred at 4 39 p.m.
San Diego report notes UPI that Nixon administration steps have halted the long rising trend in drug abuse for the first time in more than ten years.
President Nixon signed a two year 2.25 billion job bill to fund up to 200000 public service jobs for 5.5 million unemployed Americans. The plan covers police fire health education highway work and environmental projects with priority to Vietnam era veterans and areas of high unemployment. The measure runs while unemployment is at 4.5 percent or higher through July 1 1974 and includes a 250 million regional aid provision.
Materials for the School district sophomore health education course were moved to display at the district education center. Course B items are shown today and Tuesday, while Course A displays run Wednesday and Thursday. Books and pamphlets open at 1 p.m. daily. films and videotapes shown on a scheduled basis.
A 14 year old Scottsdale boy Frank Whetten was treated and released at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital after a desert trail mini bike mishap off Pima Road near Cactus Road. He struck a washed out area and the bike flipped. Police investigated six more Saturday accidents with no serious injuries.
Funeral services for E Junius Payne 58 longtime Scottsdale Stake High Council member will be held at 1 30 p m Tuesday in the Third Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints 2202 N 74th St Payne a retired Beverly Manor Convalescent Center employee was born in Glenwood Utah and moved to Arizona as a child He is survived by his wife Helen D two daughters Mrs Robert Ipsen of Scottsdale and Mrs Robert Peterson of Phoenix eight grandchildren and multiple siblings with relatives in Utah Tucson and California.
Joseph Hilsman 50 native of Harrisburg Illinois died Thursday at home 7906 East Wiltshire. Services set for 10 am Tuesday at Green Acres Mortuary 401 North Hayden Road. Survivors include wife Lucille a son Joseph of Kentucky two daughters Mrs Darlene Medina and Janie of California mother Mrs Reba Hart and step father A J Hart of Scottsdale two step brothers Billy and Junius Hart.
