The following Gootsdale men Danby TP Havier and William A Shaw enlisted with the U S Marine Corps Arizona Platoon. Daily activities at Coronado School include ping pong checkers and horseshoes supervised by John Kennedy with tetherball volleyball and baseball also played. Arts and crafts and two evening classes run under Mrs Yount and Mrs Wittiem-Wood with music by the Fine Toppers and a 25 cent admission.
