Hijacked Northwest jet flown back to U S without passengers
Cuban officials sent the hijacked Minneapolis Chicago Miami Boeing 727 back to the United States without its 87 passengers saying it would be unsafe to take off from Havana with a full load. Passengers were to be picked up later for the Veradera airlift. The pilot said the action was nonsense and officials called it unusual while a Swiss embassy probe was pursued.
