Dollar sinks on European markets amid thin demand

Kennecott to lay off 200 at Ray Mines division
Ray Mines division of Kennecott Copper Corp will lay off nearly 200 employees and cut operating hours starting February 16. Pickering says stockpiled concentrates and needed maintenance drive the reductions, with some facilities moving from seven to five or six days per week and a two week shutdown from June 15 to June 27 for maintenance.
