A Cochise County crash west of Tombstone killed three men: Clayton Smith editor and publisher of the Tombstone Epitaph, Donald O. Ensign Sierra Vista School Superintendent, and Dr. T. C. Johnson Cochise County Junior College president. The victims were identified by the sheriff’s office.

Helen Jeanne Pecor 42 of 5230 N Scottsdale Rd charged with leaving the scene after a rear end crash that injured Carrie B. Kimball 66 of 8139 Desert Cove. Police traced the other vehicle to a Miami Lodge tenant. Pecor found intoxicated in her apartment tub. Police also noted Means’ body found by two passersby.

The Senate Finance Committee approves an 11.5 billion tax cut package with across the board individual rate cuts retroactive to Jan 1 lowering brackets to 16 77 percent then 14 70 percent in 1965. Corporate rates shrink to 50 and 48 percent with small business relief to 22 percent in 1965. The bill adds a new minimum deduction, limits itemized deductions, expands stock dividend rules, allows moving expenses, and tightens rules on stock options and casualty losses. It also applies higher taxes to gas and oil firms and caps executive life insurance benefits.
