Fra Serra remembered as world’s outstanding missionary
A letter from European correspondent James Boyd extols Fra Junípero Serra, the Spanish Franciscan founder of missions in California. The writer recalls Serra’s 1764 to 1782 mission chain from San Diego to Sonoma, his devotion, and a Mission Play at San Gabriel. The Palmdale note cites Serra’s grave in Carmel and a statue in his native town.

4-H Club Party Timed By January 12 Night
The January 4-H Club party was held Tuesday January 12 at the American Legion hall with Spice and Stiteholu Roberta Hayden and her group as hosts. Round dancing folk dancing and games entertained. Reports on the National Congress of 4-H clubs in Chicago were given by Roberta Hayden Eva Kittell Dorothy Korva Rich ard Sparks. Special guests included Mrs Isobel Pace home demonstration agent and her assistant Mrs Nelson. Also Richard Hoover and Cecil Fry attended. Refreshments were served by the girls group chaired by Mrs A W Austin. Burson Donn led the entertainment.

Scottsdale Welcomes National Editorial Association Guests
The Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce and local officials hosted 160 visiting members of the National Editorial Association on Saturday January 16 from 5 30 to 6 30 p m. Attendees received town maps brochures and a Chamber directory while a Palomino show horse and cowgirls added Western pageantry. Membership plaques have been mailed. A general membership meeting is set for January 28 at 7 30 p m in Scottsdale High School cafeteria followed by the annual election of officers on February 11 at 7 30 p m.
