Cambodian Vietnamese clash on Pich Nil Pass in Cambodia

Cambodian and South Vietnamese troops with U S helicopter gunships fought Communist forces on the Pich Nil Pass along Highway 4. U S air support and Navy helicopter carriers operated nearby as ground forces moved to link up near Kompong Seila and reopen Route 4. Hand to hand fighting began as government troops climbed Pich Nil Mountain toward Sihanouk’s former summer palace.

Scottsdale boy struck by car in weekend incidents

A Scottsdale youth was struck by a car Sunday at Granite Reef Road and McDonald Drive and listed in satisfactory condition. Police reported two other weekend injuries from separate incidents including Lonnie Hayes and a driver, with one two car crash at Avalon Drive and 67th Place.

Assault on officer leads to arrest in Phoenix

Eighteen year old Chester Myers of 5002 East Windsor Phoenix was arrested by Scottsdale police early Sunday on charges of assaulting a police officer disturbing the peace using foul and obscene language in a public place and resisting arrest. He was arrested at 1 15 am Sunday in the Banking Lot of Bob's Big Boy 7170 McDowell after an unpaid bill dispute. Police say Myers and a friend left without paying the bill then he insulted Officer David Pirente and struck him several times. Myers remained in jail this morning. His companion was not arrested.

Design Review Board to hear four agenda items this week

The Design Review Board will meet Tuesday at 5 p.m. in City Hall to study plans for an addition to Messinger Mortuary at 7601 E Indian School Rd and an office building for Ted Bass Jones at Craftsman's Court and Third Ave. It will review window shade panel additions for Sambo's Restaurant at Stetson Dr and Scottsdale Rd. Burglaries Reported in Scottsdale Weekend

Police say three burglaries occurred over the weekend with two possibly linked. Cash was taken from Betty Monson's home at 6853 E Osborn and Laois Moynes's at 4347 N Miller. a billfold and $7 were reported missing. A 629 television was stolen from Henry Chappell’s home at 7530 E Windsor after entry via a rear patio door. fire tracks were found near the back of the house.
