First Statewide Civil Defense Meeting Set in Phoenix
County and City Civil Defense Directors will meet January 19 in Phoenix for the first statewide gathering since Arizona activated its Civil Defense agency last June. State and federal officials will address the session and a statewide recruiting program will be launched.

Arizona's 17 000 Legionnaires will have a new headquarters in Phoenix. Commander John A. Durden announced the plan to erect a single story building on American Legion property on West Polk Street. Plans were approved by the Department Executive Committee in Willson last month with funds set aside. The new structure will adjoin the Lake-Greenway Post One building. Carl Mayer of Phoenix chairs the building committee.
