A kitchen fire at the Hanson home 2419 Pathway Way caused about 250 dollars in damage. Firefighters arrived after 5 19 p m and found baking soda used to extinguish the blaze. Earlier a grass fire near Mohave School at 2 45 p m was extinguished with help from school officials and firefighters.
Police arrested two 15 year old Tempe boys Monday afternoon for allegedly stealing a tape deck and an eight track machine from Scottsdale stores. The youths were released to their parents after investigation.
The author recalls a lifelong battle with cold from North Dakota winters to Arizona heat. Mrs Beverly E Kruglick 40 finance committee chair died Monday in Good Samaritan Hospital Phoenix. Founding president of the Golden Gate Settlement Guild and longtime member of Musical Theater Guild Temple Beth Israel Phoenix Symphony Guild and United Order of True Sisters. Native of California moved to Scottsdale in 1957. Survivors include a son and two daughters Janice and Jacqueline all of Scottsdale and three brothers Dan Coleman Whittier California and Land Mark Coleman Pasadena California. Services 11 am Greenshaw Bethany Chapel 710 W Bethany Home Rd Phoenix burial Seth Israe Cemetery. Contributions to Good Samaritan Hospital Tumor Clinic advised.

A 26 year old Minnesota man was arrested Monday afternoon at 3922 N Scottsdale Rd by police on suspicion of fraudulent use of a credit card in a local purchase. Authorities say the suspect may have used the card in other purchases in the area.
Police report multiple burglaries Monday including Mohave School where a $379 tape recorder and a 200 portable record player were taken along with a floor heater and cedar chest. Additional thefts at residences include jewelry, $50 cash, and a chandelier damaged. entries via unlocked doors and broken windows were noted.
Mrs Harriet Eliza Down 80 formerly of Denver and Scottsdale died Sunday at Granite Reef Nursing Home Mesa. She was a longtime member of the Scottsdale Fourth Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints charter member of the Scottsdale Kiwanis Club past president of the Parent Teachers Association and librarian for Scottsdale schools. Survivors include sons Burson Mesa and Marlo Scottsdale with ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Howard Pearlman owner of Hills Book Store in Tempe Shopping Center died Saturday at Tempe Community Hospital. He was 57, born in Chicago, lived in Scottsdale since 1957 after moving from Los Angeles, and was a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife June, son Ronald of Scottsdale, daughter Judith of Los Angeles, and one grandchild. Private services were held Monday at Carr Mortuary.
Police report vandals broke into the Saguaro High School stadium construction site between Friday and Monday. They caused 550 in damage by spreading plaster on sidewalks breaking roofing holes and painting obscene symbols in the athletic director office and press box.
Police report at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital surgery after a 11:40 a.m. Monday motorcycle collision at Scottsdale Road and Indian Bend Drive left James Norris 19 injured and William Juett 23 from Glendale uninjured. Norris reportedly pulled into Juett’s path as a large truck blocked Juett’s view.
