Pittsburgh teachers strike for collective bargaining election

About one third of Pittsburgh's 3100 public school teachers walked out in a first citywide strike to force a bargaining election. Nine schools reported damage. four closed, with heat and water disruptions affecting many campuses. The PFT seeks a single agent to represent all teachers against the Pittsburgh Teachers Education Association. No injuries were reported.

Mohave School Fire Under Investigation at Temporary Classroom

Rural Fire Department extinguished a small blaze beneath a Mohave School temporary classroom on 86th St and Jackrabbit at about 4 50 p m. No damage to the building reported. Investigators probing cause. Firemen also responded to a grease fire at 8643 E Edgemont on the Viseur residence with $150 estimated damage before arrival.
