ASU Opens 57 Game Baseball Season At Sun Devil Field
Arizona State University starts its 57 game season hosting Cal Poly Pomona at Sun Devil Field with lefty Larry Gura slated to open on the mound. Chapman College visit and a 7 30 p m start headline the Sun Devils schedule as Ken Hansen is the probable starter for Friday night. In Tucson, University of Arizona coach Frank Lancet opposes a proposed round robin schedule expansion for Western Athletic Conference Southern Division teams, arguing it would limit national visibility. The plan would split 18 league games into a 36 game schedule across the division.
