Senate subcommittee backs change on Tax Appeals Board secrecy
The three member Senate Government subcommittee approved changes to exempt deliberations of the State Tax Appeals Board from public view. The panel adopted recommendations to expand secrecy, reversing an Arizona Supreme Court ruling that allowed press access to board deliberations. The proposal now goes to the full Senate Government Committee. Also, the committee endorsed a bill requiring a governor to replace a rejected nominee within 30 days, closing a gap that lets a nominee serve out a term.
