Budget Director Bill Advances In Arizona Legislature
The Arizona House leadership moved to bring a budget director bill to the floor after a State Government Committee approved a compromise. The measure, sponsored by Rep. Burton Barr, would create a three year phased budget department beginning with a finance and budget director, followed by purchasing and planning departments. Survived by husband Peter W two sons Eugene P and Peter W Jr a daughter Patricia McLaughlin and Barbara Cassatt numerous Tomassi siblings and five grandchildren. Requiem Mass Friday at St Daniel the Prophet Church burial in St Francis Cemetery Phoenix.

Rep Prentiss Walker of Mississippi became the first southern congressman to nominate a Black student for a U.S. service academy. He put forward Marvell Lang, an A average senior at Bay Springs Vocational School, for the U.S. Military Academy as he campaigns against Senator James Eastland for his Mississippi seat.

Robbers Seek Gunmen Linked to Valley Home Invasion
Authorities pursue two armed robbers after they tied three Robbs family members in Paradise Valley as they slept. They ransacked the home stealing a 45 caliber pistol and jewelry, fleeing in Robin Robbs’s car. The incident follows a separate home invasion theft at Dr. and Mrs. Flinn.
