County Planning Director Donald W. Hutton reports 1968 saw a 62 percent rise in construction activity in incorporated Maricopa County areas. Valuations reached 34.2 million dollars, with 1968 zoning change appeals up 45 percent and subdivisions up 14 percent. January 1969 permits totaled 3.769 million in valuations.
Maricopa County Assessor Ken Kunes will speak at the Arizona Apartment Association meeting about taxes on apartments. The Monday 8 p.m. session at the Holiday Inn in Phoenix is open to apartment owners and managers. The group advocates reducing property tax on apartments and eliminating the rent sales tax.
Management specialist will be guest speaker at this month’s dinner meeting of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. W R Schulz of W R Schulz and Associates will speak Monday February 17 at 6 30 p m at the Saddleback Inn. Schulz firm is responsible for over 4000 apartments in Arizona Nevada.
December 1968 construction authorized reached 58 million dollars, more than double December 1967. Non residential and non building sectors rose to 14 and 31 million respectively, while residential fell slightly to 14.3 million. total 1968 authorizations reached 401 million, up 10 percent from 1967's 446 million.
