The Veterans Administration reports 284000 home loans approved in 1971, up 70 percent from 1970 and the best year since 1957. Phoenix regional office processed 9089 loans in 1971, a 73 percent rise from 3232 in 1970, aided by easier mortgage access and the Veterans Housing Act of 1970.
Fontana, a Fontana housing development by Dell Trailer Construction Co of Phoenix, will start with 220 residential units in three villages overlooking Fountain Hills tallest fountain. Homes include 40 townhouses, 60 patio homes and 120 villas with prices from 18 000 to 32 000.
Rep. John Kyl Iowa introduces a bill to divert about 62 million dollars yearly from timber import duties to reforestation of the national forest system for a decade. He argues this would help seed and plant up to 5 million acres lagging behind, and notes that funding should come from the tax rather than timber sales.
McCulloch Properties Inc. selects Scottsdale Arizona as headquarters for its planned communities division led by Alan D. Ewen vice president. The group will manage MPI developments in Fountain Hills Lake Havasu City and Pueblo West and coordinate with Holly Development Co. Local officials and state agencies backed guidelines to aid planned community development. Ewen emphasized social responsibility environmental concern and aim to lead urban planning in the Southwest.
Henderson Realty will occupy 4,000 square feet of a building under construction at 7300 E Camelback Rd with 2,000 square feet for lease. The $200,000 two story Spanish design by architect Ronald Craik is shown in the artist’s concept. Leasing handled by Henderson Realty 4419 N Scottsdale Rd. Space available June 1.
