Talks forecast for Syrian Israeli withdrawal with US role
Indirect talks between Israel and Syria may begin soon with the United States mediating. Haaretz reports Israel agreed to share a list of prisoners held since 1973 and to discuss a troop withdrawal pact with Damascus, in a process likened to the Kissinger framework. Red Cross POW inspections would follow talks. Jordanian unrest and pay raises for troops are noted amid reports of a mutiny and a canceled Washington visit by King Hussein.
