Opponents argue federal natural gas price controls may end in a five year phase out after Senate support and House action planned. Lifting controls would raise heating costs for homes and businesses, with 1980 average heating estimated at about 250 dollars per year, 80 dollars higher than 1974 rates. Administrator Bill Pedersen calls the policy ridiculous and says liabilities exceed assets. Frank Wilkins notes state law requires the x ray for many workers but not food service. He cites cost effectiveness and minimal TB findings, with about 25000 county employees x rayed annually. Pedersen says the $6 fee is up from $2.50 and that county costs are not covered.
